Clutch Open House and Black Top Nats in Wichita

Well a lot of time in the drivers seat on Saturday. Blaine was the guest of honor pinstriper at Clutch Rod and Customs open house in Wichita. It was on the same day as the Black Top Nats and the shop is only a block away from the Nats. Rudy and I headed on down there on Saturday morning to check it all out and drove back on Saturday late afternoon. Clutch has an awesome building and I know Rudy and I both were scheming on how to find the same building closer to KC! Its an old Lincoln dealership building built around 1950. Anyway Blaine was there striping away, skateboard decks, glass, panels, mailboxes, cars, you name it, he was striping it. It was cool to watch, actually nice and cool as whenever possible I sat in a room with a/c !

The Black Top Nats was so so. A lot of late model stuff going on, like brand new camaros etc. Not as many cars as I expected. It was heavily sponsored by Ford. Ford stuff all over the place, even a place you could test drive a Ford around a small course, Roush Racing was there, all the Ford HiPo stuff was on display. Even Dennis Gauge from My Classic Car was there filming. Check the photos, one guy had more clothes pegs than Tucker!!!

We even found a new place for breakfast while we were down there, kinda far to drive for a new Saturday morning feed, but good food at a fair price. A mum and pop type place the “Doo-Dah Diner”.

The only casualty I had was that I lost a window wiper blade on the passenger side of the 47. While cleaning the windshield at a gas station on the 35, I knocked the clip off the wiper blade, so I sat the wiper on the cowl, then forgot about it. As soon as I got back on the Freeway and put the foot down (gently of course) I saw it fly up and over… dam it, but keep the pedal down and move on.
